LEARN AND LIVE THE FRENCH LANGUAGE
The Alliance Française de Gênes (formerly the French cultural center, present in Genoa since 1959) is part of an international network coordinated by the Alliance Française in Paris and has an agreement with the French Embassy in Italy. It offers three-month or year-long French courses at all levels (assessed with a free placement test) for adults, teens, and children at various time slots.
The courses, group or individual, are taught by native-speaking teachers.
The Alliance Française is the only certifying body (and examination center) in the Province of Genoa for the DELF and DALF French language certificates, for the TCF and for the DFP (Diplomas in Professional French) of the French Chamber of Commerce in Paris.
The Alliance Française of Genoa is part of the Federation of Alliances Françaises d'Italia, the body accredited by the MIUR for the training of school staff pursuant to Ministerial Directive No. 170/2016.
The Alliance française de Gênes offers more than just French courses. Each student/member has the opportunity to participate in its cultural activities (cinema, conferences, concerts, even gastronomic events!) and access its multimedia library.
In addition, a few years ago, the Alliance opened a playroom for children and teenagers aged 6 and up and also offers a translation service.

It is the fifth most spoken language in the world.
French is spoken by over 321 million people worldwide. It is deeply rooted in Africa, the Caribbean, Louisiana, Lebanon, Southeast Asia, and Canada, especially Quebec. French is an official language, alone or with other languages, in 32 countries across five continents.

It is the official language of important institutions
Examples of this include the UN, UNESCO, NATO, the European Union, and the International Red Cross, but it is also the language spoken in Strasbourg, Brussels, and Luxembourg, the three cities home to the main European institutions.

French universities are among the best in Europe and the world, so knowing this language will give you the opportunity to attend them and perhaps obtain one of the many scholarships the French government offers to deserving students.

Opens up job opportunities
French is also the third language of business, the second language of international information, and the fourth language of the Web, according to the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie.
Knowing French means applying to French companies, not only in France but also in French-speaking countries, including Canada and Belgium. Furthermore, in Italy too, many workplaces require knowledge of this language for communication: France is the fifth largest trading country and the third largest source of foreign investment, making it a key economic partner.

It is the language of culture
Last but not least, the answer to the question "why study French?" Today, it is the international language of fashion, cuisine, theater, and the visual arts, but it has always been the language of culture as well. Just think, it was the language of the great Enlightenment philosophers, such as Diderot, Rousseau, and Voltaire, who influenced the history and culture of the entire world, changing the mindset of many by proposing new doctrines. Not to mention the great literary works written in French, universal masterpieces, such as Simone de Beauvoir's "Memoirs of a Proper Daughter," Camus's "The Stranger," Marcel Proust's "In Search of Lost Time," Gustave Flaubert's "Madame Bovary," and countless others that it would be a shame not to be able to read in their original language.
